Chapter 71

¹ A psalm on Solomon.
² Give to the king thy judgment, O God: and to the king's son thy justice: To judge thy people with justice, and thy poor with judgment.
³ Let the mountains receive peace for the people: and the hills justice.
⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people, and he shall save the children of the poor: and he shall humble the oppressor.
⁵ And he shall continue with the sun, and before the moon, throughout all generations.
⁶ He shall come down like rain upon the fleece; and as showers falling gently upon the earth.
⁷ In his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace, till the moon be taken sway.
⁸ And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
⁹ Before him the Ethiopians shall fall down: and his enemies shall lick the ground.
¹⁰ The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents: the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring gifts:
¹¹ And all kings of the earth shall adore him: all nations shall serve him.
¹² For he shall deliver the poor from the mighty: and the needy that had no helper.
¹³ He shall spare the poor and needy: and he shall save the souls of the poor.
¹⁴ He shall redeem their souls from usuries and iniquity: and their names shall be honourable in his sight.
¹⁵ And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Arabia, for him they shall always adore: they shall bless him all the day.
¹⁶ And there shall be a firmament on the earth on the tops of mountains, above Libanus shall the fruit thereof be exalted : and they of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth.
¹⁷ Let his name be blessed for evermore : his name continueth before the sun. And in him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed: all nations shall magnify him.
¹⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone doth wonderful things.
¹⁹ And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever: and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. So be it.

Chapter 71

¹ In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
² Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thy ear to me, and save me.
³ Be thou my strong habitation, to which I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
⁴ Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
⁵ For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
⁶ By thee have I been sustained from my birth: thou art he that brought me into life: my praise shall be continually of thee.
⁷ I am as a wonder to many; but thou art my strong refuge.
⁸ Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day.
⁹ Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
¹⁰ For my enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

¹⁶ I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
¹⁷ O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
¹⁸ Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have shown thy strength to this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
¹⁹ Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like to thee!
²⁰ Thou, who hast shown me great and severe troubles, wilt revive me again, and wilt bring me again from the depths of the earth.
²¹ Thou wilt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

²³ My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
²⁴ My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought to shame, that seek my hurt.

¹ you, Yahweh, I take refuge. Never let me be disappointed.
² me in your righteousness, and rescue me. Turn your ear to me, and save me.
³ to me a rock of refuge to which I may always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
⁴ me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
⁵ you are my hope, Lord Yahweh; my confidence from my youth.
⁶ have relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother's womb. I will always praise you.
⁷ am a marvel to many, but you are my strong refuge.
⁸ mouth shall be filled with your praise, with your honor all the day.
⁹ reject me in my old age. Don't forsake me when my strength fails.
¹⁰ my enemies talk about me. Those who watch for my soul conspire together,
¹¹ "God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him."
¹² don't be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.
¹³ my accusers be disappointed and consumed. Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me.
¹⁴ I will always hope, and will add to all of your praise.
¹⁵ mouth will tell about your righteousness, and of your salvation all day, though I don't know its full measure.
¹⁶ will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Yahweh. I will make mention of your righteousness, even of yours alone.
¹⁷ you have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.
¹⁸ even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don't forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.
¹⁹ righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens; you have done great things. God, who is like you?
²⁰ who have shown us many and bitter troubles, you will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.
²¹ my honor, and comfort me again.
²² will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God. I sing praises to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
